The ComTac IV was widely regarded as a step backward for Peltor, with issues such as poor audio quality and uncomfortable design, largely due to the introduction of ear canal microphones. These microphones, though innovative, did not meet expectations and resulted in many users preferring the older, more reliable ComTac III. With the release of the ComTac V, 3M addressed many of the issues from the previous model. The ComTac V featured an updated electronic package while still retaining legacy audio configurations, ensuring compatibility with existing systems. It provided better audio clarity and overall communication performance, making it a much-needed improvement over the ComTac IV. The current model, the ComTac VI, builds on the success of the ComTac V and has now become the flagship product in the Peltor line. It introduces Natural Interaction Behavior (NIB), a key feature that allows users to communicate seamlessly without needing to use external radios or intercom systems, improving efficiency in tactical environments. The ComTac VI also integrates Mission Audio Modes for enhanced situational awareness, allowing operators to adjust audio settings based on their environment. Additionally, it includes updated helmet mounting hardware for improved stability and comfort, making it the workhorse of the Peltor line today.
