A contender of the US Army 2015 XM17 Modular Handgun System (MHS) competition, the FN 509 is FN Herstal latest flagship pistol, a polymer-framed, striker-fire pistol derived from the proven architecture of their FN FNS series.
As a contestant for the MHS competition, FN reached out to industry experts such as Larry Vickers to further develop the platform, meeting the extensive requirements of the rigorous competition, such as reliability, ammo compatibility and durability, in order to succeed in the competition, with over a million rounds of ammunition spent during its development.
