Read how the Aimpoint ACRO came to be and why it’s trusted worldwide.
Explore the evolution of Aimpoint’s ACRO Series, from its origins with the Nano to the revolutionary P-1 and P-2 models that set new standards for enclosed pistol red dot sights.

Origins of the ACRO
Many shooters think the Aimpoint ACRO P-1 was the first enclosed pistol red dot sight, but the design started earlier with the Aimpoint Nano. Built for the B&T USW (Universal Service Weapon) – the Nano worked well because it was sitting on the frame, not the slide. Testing on slides was an issue as it wasn’t durable enough to handle the recoil forces. This challenge drove Aimpoint engineers to develop the ACRO P-1, the first enclosed sight built tough enough for pistols.
