The first samples are going out!
The Bundeswehr is now expected to field around 250,000 G95-series rifles — the G95A1 and G95KA1 — instead of the originally planned 118,718. Recent discussions in the Bundestag suggest the framework contract could climb past €800 million, a massive jump from the previous €275 million.
And that might just be the beginning: long-term estimates point to a potential total requirement of up to 500,000 G95 rifles across multiple variants.

Built on the proven HK416 platform from Heckler & Koch, the G95 is a modern 5.56×45 mm assault rifle designed to bring the Bundeswehr’s small-arms capability up to current operational standards.
A milestone comes today on December 4, when 300 G95/HK416A8 rifles will be handed over in Grafenwöhr to Panzergrenadier Battalion 122, making them the first unit to receive the new system.
The image above shows the first look at the final HK416A8 configuration featuring an M-LOK handguard — notably without the new primary optic (the ELCAN Specter DR). More to follow.
