Spanish SOF contributes to stability, security, and the fight against terrorism.
In Iraq, the Spanish Special Operations Task Group (SOTG) XXII continues to train and support the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) as part of the International Coalition to Fight Daesh.
Their mission includes:
- Planning and execution of operations
- Air support resources
- Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR)
- Medical evacuation (MEDEVAC)
Through these efforts, Spanish SOF play a vital role in defeating jihadist terrorism, strengthening Iraqi security forces, and consolidating stability in Iraq — reflecting NATO Allies’ long-term commitment to cooperative security and political dialogue with Partners.
