In Northern Norway, Royal Marines push forward on a reconnaissance mission—studying the coastline, identifying landing sites, and preparing the ground for Allied amphibious operations.




13 Feb 2026 – UK Commando Force in Norway.
Shore Reconnaissance Troop– 30 Commando IX Group Royal Marines conducted an extraction under fire, utilising sea-to-shore firing drills from inflatable raiding craft.
Operating in extreme Arctic conditions, the troop demonstrated an aggressive, rapid, and effective break-contact procedure — maintaining speed, precision, and fire superiority throughout the manoeuvre.
Shore Reconnaissance Troop operators are highly trained specialists drawn from the UK Command
Training in the Arctic ensures NATO Special Operations and amphibious forces remain ready to deter, defend, and operate in any environment.
