Cloning a camo from widely available samples is one thing
But what happens when something is too obscure to exist in physical form? When it came to making something decidedly “Kommandostore” with a touch of streetwear, we started looking at South Africa’s military history for inspiration.
The capsule collection focuses on two South African Camos; one widely issued and one that is experimental:
Soldier 2000 – Issued to the South African National Defence Force since 1994. It is a serious offense for anyone to wear the camo without authorization from the government. The Defence Act of 2002 explicitly prohibits the use of the camo.
“DT Splinter” – an experimental camo developed by M.J. Du Toit – the man behind a large portion of the SADF’s early webbing development, including pattern 70. There is only one known photo of this experimental recon pattern – with M.J. Du Toit wearing it. Hence “Du Toit” or “DT” Splinter as our naming convention.

This KP9 GBB Airsoft SMG by Toxicant is an enhanced build of the PP-19-01 that uses a cloned MWS engine that originated from Tokyo Marui’s line of GBB AKs, featuring a stamped steel receiver and dust cover with various other steel external parts and components, it ensures reliability and durability during intense skirmishes.
The Toxicant KP9 GBB Airsoft SMG has a 1913 Picatinny rail up top on the dust cover for installing optics and also has a dovetail side optic mount, for if the user opts to go for a more traditional Russian-style optic system. The muzzle features a 14mm CCW thread that is paired with a removable triple ported muzzle break, allowing for the attachment of various muzzle devices or tracer units, and is complemented with a steel faux gas block and front sight combination.
It also comes with a traditional stamped steel paddle fire selector that easily switches between the 3 modes: Safe, Full-Auto, and Semi-Auto, and is equipped with a polymer magwell that utilizes a simple magazine paddle release.
